1. What Sapientia MD is

Sapientia MD is a platform that connects patients with licensed Philippine physicians for online consultations (telemedicine), clinic bookings and health records. Sapientia Information Solutions Inc. (“Sapientia”) operates the platform; it does not practise medicine. Every consultation is between you and the doctor you choose, who is solely responsible for the medical advice given.

2. Not for emergencies

Telemedicine is not suitable for emergencies. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, loss of consciousness or any other emergency, go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

3. Doctors

Doctors on the platform hold a valid PRC license and Professional Tax Receipt, which Sapientia checks before they go live. Doctors set their own professional fee (PF) and receive 100% of it; Sapientia charges the patient a separate platform fee shown before payment. Doctors agree to follow DOH-NPC Joint Memorandum Circular 2020-0001 and the DOH-DILG-PhilHealth Joint Administrative Order 2021-0001 on telemedicine, and the FDA rules on electronic prescriptions.

4. Payments, escrow, refunds

Payments are collected by PayMongo and held by Sapientia until the consultation is completed, then released to the doctor. If the doctor does not show up, you receive a full refund. If you do not show up, the platform fee is kept and the professional fee is refunded according to the doctor's cancellation window shown at booking. Cancellations more than 2 hours before a booked slot are refunded in full.

5. Your account

Keep your sign-in details private. You may add family members (dependents) you are legally responsible for. Do not share another person's records without their consent.

6. Prescriptions and documents

E-prescriptions, medical certificates, lab requests and referrals are issued by the doctor, carry the doctor's PRC and PTR numbers and digital signature, and can be verified by anyone through the QR code printed on them. Prescriptions for controlled substances follow the doctor's S2 license rules.

7. Acceptable use

No abusive, fraudulent or unlawful use. Chat inside consultations is moderated to keep contact details inside the platform. Sapientia may suspend accounts that break these terms.

8. Liability

Sapientia provides the platform “as is”. To the extent allowed by Philippine law, Sapientia is not liable for the medical advice of doctors, for interruptions caused by internet or device failure, or for indirect damages.
